Whether we had a long or a short break, we are all now more or less ready for “la Rentrée”. I trust you’re putting time aside to attend one or more events and that you’re not only willing to benefit from the network but also to devote some energy and knowledge to making EuropeanPWN still more effective. She will be our inspiring Speaker this month and give us insights into how she managed these multiple tours de force.
Dr. Regel, who was educated in the former USSR, is a Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, and currently Director of an international center and Professor of Electrical Engineering at Clarkson University in New York. Among her many achievements are successful experiments in space, use of a giant human centrifuge to make uniform semiconductors, and the use of unique high energy accelerators for heavy ion implantation in electronic materials.
| | Her latest research has focused on the creation of an innovative process to grow artificial diamonds at low temperature and pressure, even on plastics. She is the author of four scientific books and editor of seven books and proceedings.
As well as composing piano pieces, Dr. Regel writes stories and thought-provoking poems. Her growing passion is to create novel paintings by applying her scientific knowledge. Many of her works contain real gemstones, gold dust, and powdered coral and amber, and their appearance varies depending on the lighting conditions.
Dr. Regel believes that everyone has unique talents that can be used to enrich all our lives. She also believes there is a powerful force that can bring inspiration and open many paths to fulfillment in the life of today’s woman. This force is the innate human impulse to create and to understand, which motivates the scientist, the artist, the composer and the poet. Their vocabularies may differ, but she believes that the eloquence of a mathematical equation, the beauty of a painting, the harmony of music and the emotion of a poem appeal to the same underlying spirit in all of them.
